BJP fought hard, and the Centre took prompt action on the construction of the Chhaila-Neripul-Yashwantnagar-Kumarhatti road
Former state BJP president and MP Suresh Kashyap said that the BJP has consistently strived to strengthen road connectivity in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla parliamentary constituency and has effectively conveyed public concerns to the central government. He said that it is due to the BJP’s efforts and continuous correspondence that the Chhaila-Neripul-Yashwantnagar-Kumarhatti road project has been seriously considered at the central level.
Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap stated that he had written a letter to the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on August 22, 2025, informing him that this road is crucial for the production of apples, flowers, and other cash crops in the Solan, Sirmaur, and Shimla districts of the Shimla parliamentary constituency. In the letter, he specifically mentioned that this road, connecting areas like Chhaila, Neripul, Ouchghat, Sataunnagar, Bakhala Chowki, and Kumarhatti, is the lifeline of orchardists and the local population and should be developed as a national highway or double-lane road.
He stated that he subsequently wrote a detailed letter to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, on December 19, 2025, requesting that this 36-kilometer-long road be prioritized for completion under the CRIF scheme. The MP clarified in the letter that this road would provide farmers and gardeners with better access to major markets across the country, including Delhi, and accelerate regional development.
MP Suresh Kashyap said that Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari took prompt action on the letters sent by him and in a letter dated 28 July 2025 mentioned that this proposal has been forwarded to the State Government for consideration on priority basis under the Central Roads and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). The Minister said that as per the guidelines of the CRIF Act 2000, the State Government sends the list of projects to the Centre on priority basis and under this process, the concerned officials have been instructed to send the proposal to the State.
Apart from this, Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari again wrote a letter on 10th November 2025 and assured MP Suresh Kashyap that the Ministry is giving priority to such important roads under the new National Highway Construction Policy keeping in mind the traffic density, socio-economic needs and PM Gati Shakti Yojana and necessary guidelines have been issued to the officials on the proposed route.
Suresh Kashyap also reminded that earlier in the year 2015 also, positive correspondence was made by the Union Minister regarding the improvement and widening of this road, which proves that the BJP government has been continuously sensitive and committed towards the road infrastructure of Himachal Pradesh.
He said that this demand is not new, in fact, when MP Suresh Kashyap was the MLA from the Pachhad assembly constituency in 2015, he prominently raised the need for the construction and upgrading of this important road. Since then, he has been continuously fighting for this long-awaited public demand and has strongly presented it to the central government.
He said that roads are not just a means of transportation but the backbone of the hill state’s development. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Himachal Pradesh has received numerous gifts in the form of national highways, tunnels, bridges, and a modern road network.
MP Suresh Kashyap urged the state government to give priority to this important road project so that the construction work can start soon and the people of the area, gardeners, farmers and tourists can get direct benefit from it.
He said that BJP has been continuously fighting for the rights and development of the people of Himachal and will ensure the all-round development of the state by bringing more and more projects from the Centre.
