Asha workers and BMOs should widely publicize HPV vaccination in rural areas

A regional-level meeting was held at the Civil Hospital, Junga, chaired by Dr. Sanjay Ranaut, Block Medical Officer, Mashobra. All doctors, supervisors, and ASHA workers from Junga Hospital participated. Programs related to human papillomavirus (HPV), tuberculosis eradication, NCDs, diarrhea, scrub typhus, and maternal and child support were discussed in detail.
BMO Dr. Sanjay Ranaut directed Asha workers to create awareness among the parents in rural areas about the HPV vaccination campaign in the field so that all parents voluntarily get their daughters aged 14 to 15 years vaccinated. He said that cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women, due to which every year about 80 thousand women in India become victims of cervical cancer. This cancer occurs at the mouth of the uterus of women due to Human Papilloma Virus.
Dr. Ranaut stated that to prevent this serious disease, the Indian government launched the HPV vaccination campaign nationwide on February 28th, which will conclude on May 31st. He explained that some people are spreading misinformation about the HPV vaccine, which is completely false. The HPV vaccine is completely safe and has no side effects. The government is administering this vaccine free of charge, while private clinics typically charge around ten thousand rupees.
Dr. Ranaut stated that diarrhea and scrub typhus are highly likely to occur during the summer season. She instructed ASHA workers to educate rural residents about drinking boiled water and covering their bodies while working in the fields. They should also raise awareness about TB eradication and NCD programs. IDs should be created for patients with diabetes and blood pressure so that records of these patients are available.
In the meeting, Medical Incharge Dr. Manoj Verma, Pediatrician Dr. Prashant, Gynecologist Dr. Sonika, Ophthalmologist Dr. Garima, Supervisor Sunny, besides Asha workers from Junga, Bhadech, Dublu, Janedghat, Mehli, Malayana, Trahai participated.
