AIIMS will provide world class facilities to the people and make Himachal a Global medical tourism hub: Rajiv Saizal

Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal has compared the tenure of Congress government and BJP in the health sector in Himachal Pradesh along with this, Dr. Rajiv Saizal has said that Himachal Pradesh will the leading hill state for medical facilities for the public and also become a hub of medical tourism in the near future due to the efforts made by the double engine government by initiating world class facilities like AIIMS, Medical Colleges, Telemedicine and Ayurveda. Dr. Rajiv Saizal said that during the Congress rule from 2013-14 to 2017-18, the health budget in Himachal was Rs 7,663 crore. Our government increased it by 72.67 percent to Rs 13,231.99 crore between 2018-19 and 2022-23.
Dr. Rajeev Saizal said that during the last five years, Himachal has the highest number of works in the health sector. This has been possible due to the double engine government. Patients in AIIMS will get treatment from 18 specialty and 17 super specialty departments. Apart from this, a new dimension will also be established in medical education and medical research. He said that the Central Government has so far released financial assistance of Rs 510 crore for medical colleges in Chamba, Nahan and Hamirpur of Himachal. The construction work of these buildings is going on a war footing.
He said that apart from this, machinery and medical equipments worth more than Rs 85 crore have been procured so far in our government at Ner-chok, Nahan, Hamirpur and Chamba Medical Colleges. Adding Tanda Medical College, IGMC and Atal Super Specialties Institute Chamyana, this amount comes to more than Rs 150 crore. An amount of Rs 120 crore has also been given by the Central Government for the construction of the building of Atal Super Specialties Institute, Chamyana. He said that if the Congress takes out the figures of its government, then they will come to know that this much work has never been done in the history of Himachal Pradesh.
Dr. Rajiv Saizal said that in the history of Himachal, the work which the six-time Chief Minister could not do, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur’s government has done in very first tenure. For the first time, schemes were started for free treatment of people. So far, Rs 528 crore has been spent on free treatment of people through double engine government’s Ayushman Bharat and Himcare schemes. Through these schemes, 5 lakh 2 patients have been treated free of cost so far.
He said that apart from this, many works like providing 56 types of tests free of cost, providing free medicines, facility of mobile units for every assembly constituency etc. have also been introduced.
Dr. Rajeev Saizal said that Himachal Pradesh would produce about 720 doctors every year when all medical colleges and AIIMS are fully functional. We will have high quality health facilities due to this, we will become the hub of medical tourism in the coming time.
The Health Minister said that our government has made serious efforts to recruit doctors. 500 doctors are being recruited simultaneously. Out of this, the examination has also been conducted for the recruitment of 300 doctors. 220 doctors are being recruited in Ayurveda department.
The process of filling 50 percent posts batch wise and 50 percent posts by direct recruitment has been started.
He said with all these initiatives we are set to become a model for other hill states in health facilities and also make inroads into the global medical tourism market with these facilities and create lot of employment opportunities in the future .
