AIIMS Bilaspur Strengthens Healthcare with Push for Senior Specialists
AIIMS Bilaspur is taking a big step towards improving patient care and advancing medical research by bringing in experienced talent. The institute has started the process of appointing 19 senior professors across key departments, aiming to upgrade both treatment facilities and academic excellence.
This move comes at a time when the hospital is witnessing a steady rise in patients—not just from Himachal Pradesh, but also from neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. With such a large and diverse patient base, the need for highly skilled specialists has become more important than ever. These new appointments are expected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to handle complex cases and provide better overall care.
The recruitment drive will cover 19 departments. The Anaesthesiology department will see the highest number of appointments with two professors joining, while several other departments—including Cardiology, Dermatology, General Medicine, General Surgery, and Hospital Administration—will each get one professor.
Critical and highly specialised departments such as Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Radiotherapy, Urology, and Transfusion Medicine will also be strengthened with the addition of senior faculty. These areas play a crucial role in treating serious and complicated conditions, making the appointments especially significant.
Hospital authorities believe that bringing in these experienced doctors will help expand super-speciality services at AIIMS Bilaspur. For patients, this means access to advanced treatment closer to home, reducing the need to travel to bigger cities for complex medical care.
Beyond patient care, this development is equally important for medical education and research. With more senior experts on board, the institute is expected to see a boost in research activities and academic output. Medical students will benefit from better mentoring and training, while junior and resident doctors will gain invaluable hands-on experience working under skilled professionals.
Overall, this initiative reflects AIIMS Bilaspur’s growing role as a major healthcare and academic hub in the region—one that is steadily raising the bar for both quality treatment and medical learning.
