AAP committed to OPS, will restore old pension scheme to employees: Surjit Thakur

Issuing a statement, Aam Aadmi Party’s state president Surjit Thakur said that only Aam Aadmi Party will implement the old pension scheme for the employees of Himachal. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur made it clear that it is not possible to give OPS. Due to which it was decided that the double engine government of BJP would not give the benefit of OPS to the employees. Attacking the Congress, Surjit Thakur said that the Congress leaders are making false promises of giving OPS to the employees. There are Congress governments in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, where the employees have not yet been given the benefit of OPS. In view of elections in Himachal, Congress is making false promise of giving OPS which is not going to be fulfilled. Surjit Thakur said that Kejriwal has given a guarantee to give OPS to the employees of Himachal. Kejriwal does what he says. After the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Himachal, the first decision will be taken to give OPS to the employees. In Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party government has directed the employees to prepare the draft, showing their commitment regarding the OPS. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that soon after preparing the draft of the OPS, a decision will be taken to restore the old pension to the employees.

Surjit Thakur said that lakhs of employees of Himachal Pradesh have been agitating for a long time for the implementation of Old Pension Scheme. The employees are sitting on a gradual strike under the banner of NPS union. But the Jairam government is not doing anything about the demands of the employees. The Chief Minister has done the work of harassing the employees by demanding OPS. The workers who were agitating for the demands were transferred and harassed after registering a case. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has misled the employees regarding OPS. Somewhere they kept announcing the formation of a committee regarding OPS and somewhere they kept saying that they have raised the issue with the Modi government in Delhi. Now they are saying that it is not possible to give OPS to the employees at present. Which proves that Jai Ram Thakur has been misleading the employees. Surjit Thakur said that only Aam Aadmi Party would give the benefit of OPS to the employees of Himachal.
