Aadhaar based Authentication workshop conducted for Police, Registrars

The Department of Digital Technologies and Governance (DDTG), in collaboration with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Regional Office, Chandigarh, conducted a workshop for Himachal Police and Registrars today at IT Bhawan, Mehli, Shimla. The objective of the workshop was to familiarize police and registrars with the latest developments in Aadhaar and to demonstrate how Aadhaar can be effectively used as a tool for resident identity verification.

Around 35 participants from the DDTG, Samagra Siksha (Education), Postal Department, Department of Health and BSNL also attended the workshop, which covered various topics related to the Aadhaar ecosystem, rules and regulations, authentication modules, valid documents for Aadhaar enrolment and updation, mandatory biometric update for children on attaining age of 5 and 15 years and document update.

Speaking on the occasion, Director UIDAI Jagdish Kumar emphasized the need of using both online and offline modes for verification of Aadhaar. He stated that any Aadhaar could be verified from the official website as well as the mAadhaar Application. Live demo was also given on the Aadhaar verification module. Examples of Digi Yatra and Jeevan Praman were given to show the effectiveness of Aadhaar in quick delivery of public services. He further explained that any Government or Private Department can start Aadhaar authentication for good governance for social welfare, innovation and knowledge.

The director of the UIDAI assured that such sessions would be held on regular intervals so that the administration could be apprised about latest developments of the UIDAI. He further stated that the workshop marked a significant step towards enhancing the use of Aadhaar based authentication and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.
