A New Beginning: Government Scheme Helps 327 Daughters in Mandi Start Their Married Lives

For 327 families in the Mandi district, a state government initiative has done more than just provide funds; it has brought relief and joy during one of life’s most significant milestones. The Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana has granted a total of ₹1.66 crore to support the weddings of daughters from low-income families, helping to “yellow their hands” (a traditional phrase for applying turmeric in wedding ceremonies) with both ceremony and dignity.

This scheme, a key part of the state’s welfare efforts, provides financial assistance to families struggling with the costs of a wedding. The aid amount has recently been increased to ₹51,000 per daughter, offering substantial support to those in need.

Stories of Gratitude: A Financial Burden Lifted

The true impact of the scheme is best told through the families it has helped.

· Banita, from Gawali village, shared that the ₹51,000 she received for her daughter Vandana’s marriage was a crucial financial help. “It came at the right time,” she said, expressing her thanks to the Chief Minister.
· Kiran Kumari from Matlag Phalad village learned about the scheme from an Anganwadi worker. “We completed the documents and received the amount quickly. It made my daughter Komal’s wedding so much easier,” she stated. Her daughter, Komal Thakur, also expressed her gratitude for the support.
· Other beneficiaries, including Meera Devi, Diksha Kumari, Mathru Devi, and Kandi Tilli, echoed these sentiments, thanking the government for the assistance that allowed them to celebrate their daughters’ weddings with peace of mind.
