A fire broke out in the New Diamond restaurant in Sanjauli
Fire personnel averted a major fire mishap in the thickly populated Sanjauli Chowk area of this Capital town when a major fire mishap occurred on Thursday.
Superintendent of Police Sanjay Gandhi said that a fire broke out in the kitchen of a commercial building in Shimla’s Sanjauli on Thursday.
He said that a call was received from the New Diamond food store that a fire broke out in the kitchen and flames are spreading throughout the entire store
A fire tender from Chouta Shimla and another from Mall Road rushed to the spot around 1400 hrs and it took about two hours to douse down the infernos.
Fire personnel who went to control the fire told that the fire gutted property tunes to Rs 5 lakh but property worth crores were saved due to timely fire combat as besides a food store there was a bank and educational institutions and other buildings in line of fire. The owner of the food store was identified as Daljeet Singh Dogra. No loss of life was reported in the mishap. The building hailed to be local Congress leader Yashwant Chhajta.
All the fire tenders returned from the spot around 1640 hrs after controlling the flames.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained. A food store Tripti also gutted in a similar fire mishap last month at the thickly populated Kakkar Bazar in the town.
