3 arrested with charas under NDPS Act in Kangra

Police from Kangra Station intercepted three individuals at Kachari and seized 1.945 kgs of charas from their possession late Monday night.

Police on Tuesday said two of them were residents of Mandi district. Kangra Sub Divisional Police officer (SDPO) Ankit Sharma told us that three accused persons have been identified as Sukhram, (46) Vishan Das, (46) both residents of Paddar, Mandi) and Shubhkaran,(24) resident of Rompa Jawali, Kangra. .

The SDPO said Vishan Das and Sukhram brought charas from Paddar Village of Mandi district and were about to sell the same to Shubhankar when intercepted by the Kangra police.

Police recovered 1.945 Kgs of Commercial quality Charas from their possession. All three were arrested under different sections of the NDPS Act and were presented before the court on Tuesday for police remand.

The SDPO said the duo from Paddar were to sell it to Subhankar, who was further to sell the same to a lot many people in Jawali and other places, the primary investigation revealed.

He said that their efforts turned fruitless when SHO Kangra along with his team intercepted and nabbed the trio. The SDPO claimed that this was so far the biggest catch in the last few years in which a commercial quantity of charas has been seized by Kangra Police station. He said the manufacturer sold the homemade charas at around Rs 50000 per kilogram to the first buyer and this procured charas is then being sold in smaller quantities and would have a net worth of around Rs 3 to 4 lakhs per Kg in the market.
