100 Kg seeds to be sown in Dalhousie forest division

With the onset of the monsoon season Dalhousie forest division of Chamba district has kicked off the plantation and afforestation campaign in the tourist resort as around 100 kilograms of seeds of different medicinal plants target to be sow.

 Divisional Forest Officer Dalhousie Rajneesh Mahajan said that one quintal of seeds of different species would be targeted to sown

 under the four forest ranges of the division Dalhousie, Bakloh, Chuwadi and Bhatiyat, seed sowing week would be organized from July 1 to July 7.

He said that during the ongoing monsoon season seeds of different species would be planted during the seed sowing week. 

Inn these, species like Sheesham, Amla, Kachnar, Khair, Reetha, Baheda, Harad, Amaltash, Chuli, Dadu, Pansara etc. have been included.

 He further informed that seed sowing of different species under each forest zone would be done in less than fifty percent of the live forest patches affected by arson and soil erosion. 

Along with this, he also informed that bags made of jute have been distributed to various employees of Forest Division, Dalhousie, in which the seeds will be kept and sown.

The efforts are onfoot to plants broadleaf forest as pines and Deodar forest regeneration capacity is more in the region. 

Itis worthwhile to mention here that Dalhousie is one of most preferred tourist destination after Manali and Shimla. The natural forest connapy is being preserved here since last 200 yrs.
