On Bag Free Day at Junga School, students learnt life skills and disaster management techniques

A Bag Free Day was successfully organised at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Junga on Saturday with the aim of promoting stress-free and experiential education under the National Education Policy-2020.
Presiding over the event, Principal Mahesh Sharma said that the purpose of Bag-Free Day is not just entertainment, but also to develop life skills, safety awareness, creativity, and a sense of social responsibility in students. He added that such activities play an important role in the overall development of students.
In the first session of the program, Senior Platoon Commander Ravi Sharma and Platoon Havildar Amit Kumar Mehta of the Rural Company Junga of the 3rd Battalion of Home Guards, Shimla, conducted a disaster management mock drill with the students. During this, the students were given practical information on first aid, how to transport the injured to safety, and safety measures to be taken in emergencies like fire.
Along with this, painting, poetry recitation and various cultural activities were organized for the students of classes 1 to 8, in which the children participated enthusiastically. In the second session, Assistant Director (Chemistry and Toxicology) of Forensic Lab Junaga, Rajesh Kumar and Scientific Officer Dr. Manish gave detailed information to the students about the physical, mental and social side effects of drug abuse and gave the message to stay away from drugs.
On this occasion, a cleanliness drive was also carried out under the leadership of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the school, in which the students gave the message of cleanliness by cleaning the school premises.
