Five Students from Nauni Selected to attend Janjatiya Garima Utsav

In a proud achievement for Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, five current and former students have been selected to interact with the Hon’ble President of India at New Delhi, on June 2, 2026.

The selected scholars are Abhishek Negi, Dr. Jyoti Choudhary, Dr. Suman Bodh, Dr. Sudarshana and Dr. Mohd Hussnain. They have been chosen by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, for a special interaction with the President as part of the Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026 celebrations. The event is being organized under the Ministry’s initiative to recognize meritorious Scheduled Tribe (ST) students who have benefited from the National Fellowship for Scheduled Tribes (NFST). Around 200 outstanding tribal scholars from across the country will participate in the interaction.

The programme is being held during “Birsa Lives in New Bharat Week” (May 25–June 2), commemorating the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and highlighting the contributions of tribal communities to nation-building. The initiative aims to inspire tribal youth towards education, leadership, research, innovation, and active participation in the vision of a developed India.

Among the selected scholars, Abhishek Negi is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Department of Agribusiness Management at Nauni. His research focuses on the socio-economic conditions and emerging realities of gig workers in India. The university’s recent alumni selected for the programme have also excelled in their respective fields. Dr. Jyoti Choudhary completed her B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry and Ph.D. in Agroforestry, Dr. Suman Bodh earned a doctorate in Fruit Science, Dr. Sudarshana specialized in Microbiology, and Dr. Mohd Hussnain completed his Ph.D. in Forestry. All are currently serving as faculty members in various universities and colleges.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.S. Baweja congratulated the students and alumni on their selection for this prestigious national event.
