Palampur Gears Up to Celebrate National Technology Day with Top Dignitaries
The CSIR–Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT) in Palampur is all set to celebrate National Technology Day on May 28, 2026, with great enthusiasm and significance. The upcoming event is expected to be a moment of pride for the institute, as it will host some of the country’s top leaders in science and technology.
Adding prestige to the occasion, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, and Vice President of CSIR, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will attend as the Chief Guest. His presence is seen as a strong endorsement of the institute’s contributions to scientific research in the Himalayan region. Joining him as the Guest of Honour will be Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General of CSIR and Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR).
The celebration will go beyond ceremonial speeches. During his visit, Dr. Jitendra Singh will interact with scientists, researchers, and students, providing them with an opportunity to engage directly with a key policymaker in India’s science ecosystem.
A major highlight of the event will be the inauguration of two new research laboratories and a newly developed research farm within the institute’s campus. These additions are expected to strengthen IHBT’s research capabilities, particularly in the areas of Himalayan bioresources and sustainable technologies.
Overall, the celebration promises to not only mark National Technology Day but also reinforce the institute’s commitment to innovation, research, and regional development.
