NEET Cancellation Sparks Outrage, Congress Leader Raises Sharp Concerns

Reacting strongly to the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination, Himachal Pradesh Congress General Secretary Vinod Zinta termed the development “deeply unfortunate” and a serious injustice to over 22 lakh students who had worked tirelessly to secure their future.

Zinta said the alleged paper leak has not only shaken the credibility of one of the country’s most important entrance exams but has also dealt a heavy blow to the hopes of hardworking students. He described it as a betrayal of young aspirants who had dedicated months—if not years—of preparation for the exam.

Calling for accountability, Zinta demanded that the matter be investigated by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court, stating that only a high-level, independent probe could bring out the truth. He expressed doubts over a CBI inquiry, alleging that such investigations may not remain impartial if influential people are involved.

He further criticized the recurring incidents of exam paper leaks, saying such controversies have become increasingly common in recent years, putting the future of the country’s youth at risk. “At a time when unemployment and inflation are already troubling the nation, playing with the careers of students is unacceptable,” he said.

Zinta also extended his criticism to broader national issues, reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal amid the ongoing West Asia crisis. He claimed that India’s foreign policy is becoming weak and alleged that international pressures are affecting the country’s economic stability, particularly in areas like fuel and energy prices.

He further blamed the Central Government’s policies for rising inflation and unemployment, saying that these challenges, coupled with repeated examination irregularities, are creating uncertainty and frustration among the youth.

In conclusion, Zinta said the focus must now be on ensuring transparency, accountability and fairness, not just in examinations but in governance overall, so that the aspirations of the country’s young generation are safeguarded.
