The message of drug de-addiction was given through The White Truth at H.P. University

A two-day annual cultural program was organized in the auditorium of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, courtesy of the SFI. The web series, “The White Truth,” created by the Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti to raise awareness about drug abuse (Chitta), was also screened, and was well-received by the audience.
The program showcased cultural influences from across the state, with students from various university departments presenting dances, dramas, and folk traditions from different districts. Additionally, discussions were held on the eradication of the social evil of drug abuse.
Renowned scientist, Urdu poet, and documentary filmmaker Gauhar Raza, speaking as the chief guest at the event, said that currently, scientific discourse is being undermined and superstition is being promoted. An atmosphere of inequality and intolerance based on caste, religion, region, and gender is being cultivated. In this context, intellectuals, the scientific community, and public scientists face a significant challenge. A prosperous society can only progress on the basis of science and a scientific outlook. He appealed to the student community involved in the progressive movement to prepare to face this challenge.
On this occasion, retired Head of the Department of Chemistry of the University and Founder Secretary of Himachal Science Forum, Dr. Ghanshyam Chauhan, State Secretary of Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Satyawan Pundir, Founder Member Govind Chataranta, State President of Women’s Committee and Principal of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial School, Ghanhatta, Ranjana Jarrett, and retired Assistant Professor (Music) Dr. Praveen Jarrett, University’s Dr. Bansal, Dr. Negi, State President of SFI Anil Thakur and Secretary Sunny Sekta and University leadership along with hundreds of students were present.
