Watch and Patrol initiative expands from Shimla Mall road to major tourist destinations across Himachal
A spokesperson of Himachal Pradesh Police Department today here informed that under the guidance of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu the Himachal Pradesh Police has successfully expanded its citizen-friendly ‘Watch & Patrol’ initiative from Shimla’s Mall Road to other major tourist destinations including Manali, Solan and McLeodganj.
He informed that initially launched on Mall Road to improve police visibility, public safety and tourist assistance, the initiative has emerged as an effective model of modern policing focused on service, accessibility and public trust.
He further informed that under this initiative, police personnel in ceremonial uniform are deployed at important public locations to assist tourists, guide visitors, support senior citizens and respond promptly to emergencies. Their visible and approachable presence has significantly strengthened the sense of safety and confidence among both tourists and local residents.
He said that this initiative has received wide appreciation for the disciplined, courteous and helpful conduct of police personnel, creating a positive image of the Himachal Pradesh Police as a people-centric force.
The Spokesperson further said that encouraged by the public response, the State Police has decided to further strengthen and expand this model across other major tourist destinations in the state. ‘Watch & Patrol’ reflects the state government’s commitment to making Himachal a safe, welcoming and tourist-friendly state while promoting responsive governance and service-oriented policing.
He said that HP Police is continuously working to improve this initiative through regular monitoring, training and modern policing practices to ensure safety, trust and convenience for every citizen and visitor.
