Himachal’s Promise Stronger Schools for Brighter future, 3468 teachers to be recruited

Himachal Pradesh is taking bold steps to strengthen both education and sports infrastructure, ensuring that students not only excel in academics but also thrive in athletics. The government has announced the opening of 151 new CBSE-based schools across the state, with special focus on the Chopal Assembly constituency, where four modern schools will be set up in Chopal, Nerwa, Kupvi, and Balsan. This initiative will give local students access to quality, nationally benchmarked education. To run these schools, 3,468 staff members will be recruited.

Alongside education, sports are being given equal importance. 16 new sports coach positions will be filled, ensuring that students receive professional training in games and athletics. During his visit to Chopal, Education Minister Rohit Thakur inaugurated a temporary sports hostel worth ₹14 lakh, laid the foundation stone for a volleyball hostel worth ₹62.41 lakh, and announced a new primary section office worth ₹25 lakh.

For the first time, 650 physical education teachers have been sent to Patiala for advanced training, equipping them to guide students toward new heights in sports. Himachal’s athletes are already shining—at the 2025–26 National Games, they won 8 gold, 11 silver, and 29 bronze medals. To further support talent, three new sports hostels have been approved: volleyball in Chopal, kabaddi in Shillai, and handball in Ghumarwin.

Himachal is now the first state in India to have 12 sports hostels, with ₹15 crore allocated for upgrades. The government has also doubled players’ diet allowances, hosted three national-level competitions after 12 years, and significantly increased award money—giving athletes the encouragement they deserve.

The minister also announced funds for new books in school libraries, desks for classrooms, and assured that demands for indoor stadiums, playgrounds, and kabaddi facilities will be fulfilled.

This initiative reflects Himachal’s vision: empowering students with strong education and sports opportunities, building a generation ready to lead both in classrooms and on the playing field.
