Rain and Snow Return: Yellow Alert, Himachal Set for Weather Shift From March 24

After a brief spell of dry weather, Himachal Pradesh is preparing for another round of rain and snowfall starting March 24. According to the Meteorological Department, higher reaches are likely to be blanketed in snow, while the plains and lower hills may see light to moderate showers, with heavy rainfall possible in isolated areas.

Shimla already hinted at the change on Tuesday, with a mix of sunshine and clouds marking the transition. Light precipitation is expected in some high-altitude regions, while March 25 is likely to remain dry before fresh rain and snow return on March 26.

The activity is expected to intensify toward the end of the month, with a ‘Yellow Alert’ issued for March 26 and 28, warning of gusty winds reaching 30–40 km per hour in several districts.

For residents and travelers alike, the coming days promise a dramatic shift in weather—reminding everyone of the state’s ever-changing mountain climate.
