Himachal Shines Globally: Named Among World’s Most Welcoming Regions

Himachal Pradesh has once again made India proud, earning a spot in the top 10 most welcoming regions of 2026—and it’s the only Indian destination on the list. Ranked fifth worldwide in the Traveller Review Awards by Booking.com, the hill state has carved out a reputation for warmth, hospitality, and breathtaking experiences.

From the colonial charm of Shimla and the adventure-filled valleys of Manali to the spiritual calm of McLeodganj—the Dalai Lama’s abode—Himachal offers a blend of culture, spirituality, and natural beauty that keeps drawing visitors back. Kasauli and Dalhousie, with their old-world allure, add to the state’s timeless appeal.

Globally, Himachal shares the spotlight with regions like Hidalgo in Mexico, Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada, Navarra in Spain, and Idaho in the United States. Remarkably, this is the third consecutive year Himachal has achieved this recognition.

For those seeking deeper cultural experiences, the rugged terrains of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti open doors to ancient monasteries and rich Buddhist traditions. Meanwhile, the state government has been working to expand adventure tourism—offering aero sports, water sports, and winter thrills.

Tourism numbers reflect this growing popularity: in 2024 alone, 1.81 crore visitors explored Himachal, marking a 13.42% rise from the previous year. Whether it’s the summer rush or the winter charm of snowfall, Himachal continues to welcome the world with open arms.
