Himachal Farmers to Gain as ₹85 Crore Food Processing Units Announced

Farmers in Himachal Pradesh are set to benefit from a major investment as Chandigarh-based Amar Pure Gold signed agreements with the state government to establish potato and spice processing facilities worth ₹85 crore.

The initiative, part of a broader plan to create a Potato and Spice Processing Food Park, will bring modern infrastructure to districts including Hamirpur, Sirmaur, and Una. With advanced machinery and automated systems, the facilities will reduce post-harvest losses, improve market access, and ensure products meet international quality standards.

The potato unit alone will process up to 20 metric tons of raw produce daily, turning it into flakes and powder for domestic and export markets. Alongside this, a spice processing facility will strengthen value addition in agriculture.

Officials say the project will generate jobs, empower rural communities, and open new opportunities for women in farming, handicrafts, and tourism. Amar Pure Gold emphasized that this investment is separate from its earlier ₹250 crore expansion in the state, underscoring its long-term commitment to Himachal’s agri-economy.

This move is expected to transform local farming into a more resilient, market-driven sector while giving rural producers a stronger foothold in global trade.
