Dreaming of a Teaching Career? HPPSC Opens Doors with SET-2026 Applications
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has announced that online applications are now open for the State Eligibility Test (SET), a crucial gateway for aspiring Assistant Professors in universities and colleges across the state. Candidates can apply through the official HPPSC website until January 30, 2026.
The SET is designed to identify qualified individuals ready to step into the classroom as educators. For the upcoming session, the exam will cover 22 diverse subjects ranging from Chemical Sciences, English, Life Sciences, Commerce, Economics, Geography, Hindi, History, Mathematical Sciences, Music, Physical Sciences, Physical Education, Sociology, Sanskrit, Political Science, Public Administration, Computer Science, Tourism Management, Mass Communication, Psychology, Education, and Environmental Sciences.
HPPSC has confirmed that the syllabus will strictly follow guidelines set by the UGC and CSIR, ensuring national-level standards. The detailed syllabus is available for download on the commission’s website.
Eligibility criteria require candidates from the General and EWS categories to have at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree, while those from SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PwD categories need a minimum of 50% marks. Students currently pursuing their Master’s or awaiting results can also apply, though they must complete their degree within two years of the SET result declaration.
The exam will be conducted offline at centres across Himachal Pradesh, including Shimla, Solan, Mandi, Dharamshala, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Nahan, Una, Kullu, and Chamba.
Applicants don’t need to submit certificates or documents during registration—applications will be accepted provisionally based on the information provided online. However, any false details or ineligibility discovered later could lead to cancellation of candidature and possible legal action.
