Rajat Verma of Peeran village became lieutenant in the Indian Army, Crack CDS
The saying “The promising warrior has smooth leaves” fits perfectly for Rajat Verma, who cracked the national-level Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam in his first attempt without any coaching, securing 43rd place nationally. By passing the CDS exam, he has not only brought pride to his parents and the entire Junga tehsil, but has also set a record. Rajat Verma will now begin his service as a lieutenant in the Indian Army. Rajat’s achievement has sparked a wave of joy throughout the region, and congratulations are pouring in for his parents. Rajat stated that upon receiving orders from the Army, he will now undergo training at the Officer Training Academy, Chennai. Most importantly, Rajat Sharma has become the first Army officer from the Junga tehsil.
It is worth noting that Rajat Verma was born on December 28, 2002, in Piran, a village on the outskirts of the Mashobra block. His father, Khajan Singh Verma, works as a teacher in the education department, while his mother, Shakuntala Verma, is a successful homemaker. The new year has brought joy and excitement for Rajat. He attended St. Edward’s School, Shimla, from nursery to 12th grade. Rajat subsequently earned a BA (Economics) from Degree College, Solan. During his college years, Rajat actively served as an under officer in the NACC. As a result, he was twice honored with the Republic Day parade in Delhi. During this time, he was also awarded the DGNCC Medal.
Rajat Verma shared that he had a passion for wearing a uniform and serving the nation in the army since his school days, as many young men from his school are serving as officers in the army. He said that he did not take any coaching to pass this exam, but instead prepared on his own through the internet. He credits his success to his parents, his uncle, retired bank manager Mohan Verma, and his aunt, retired section officer, High Court Shimla Shiksha Thakur, under whose guidance he received his education in Shimla since childhood. Rajat also credits his friends Anurag Thakur, Ankit Rana, and Vinay Sharma for his success. Rajat Verma has emerged as an inspiration for the youth.
