Himachal to begin recruitment of 2800 teachers after diwali

Shimla: The recruitment drive for 2800 Junior Basic Teachers (JBT), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), and C&V teachers in Himachal Pradesh is set to kick off after Diwali. The Education Department is already gearing up for the process, with plans to send recommendations to the State Selection Commission in Hamirpur soon for direct recruitment to these positions.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur, who is overseeing the initiative, has directed the department to revise the recruitment rules. These rules are currently being updated and will be finalized by the end of this month, allowing the department to move forward with the recruitment process for the 2025-26 academic session.

Minister Thakur emphasized that while nearly 2500 JBT and TGT positions have already been filled through batch-wise recruitment, the process for direct recruitment had been delayed due to the temporary dissolution of the State Selection Commission. However, with the Commission now fully operational, efforts are being ramped up to meet the target of appointing new teachers. “We are working on finalizing the rules for direct recruitment, and the process will soon be underway,” Thakur said.

The updated recruitment rules are being adjusted to address issues related to teachers previously appointed through school management committees. Discussions are ongoing with the Law and Finance departments to finalize these changes, which are expected to be ready in two weeks. Once approved by the Education Minister and the state government, the department will formally request the State Selection Commission to start the recruitment process.

The state cabinet has already given its approval to fill 2800 teaching positions through direct recruitment, and the process is expected to move swiftly once the formalities are completed.
