Culmination Ceremony of the Swachcta Pakhwara Held at IIAS

The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) hosted a special ceremony today to mark the culmination of the Swachcta Pakhwara (Cleanliness Fortnight), coinciding with the birth anniversaries of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. The ceremony included various events.

At the beginning of the program, Secretary Shri Mehar Chand Negi administered the oath of cleanliness to all present and committed to integrating cleanliness into their lives. Afterwards, everyone contributed to cleaning different parts of the campus, with enthusiastic participation from all employees, fellows, and associate fellows. This campaign was initiated inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a Swachch Bharat (Clean India) and incorporated the ideals of simplicity and integrity of Mahatma Gandhi and Shastri Ji.

Later in the closing ceremony, Shri Mohanlal from the Garden Section and Shri Dhan Bahadur from the Estate Section were honored as outstanding cleanliness workers for their dedicated work throughout the year, serving as an inspiration to all.

According to Secretary Negi, “This initiative affirms our commitment to the visionary policies of our national leadership and strengthens the spirit of cooperation and awareness about cleanliness among community members.”

The Swachcta Pakhwara was not just about cleaning the institute’s premises but also served as a medium to develop a long-term awareness and sense of social responsibility among every member of the community.

The institute remains committed to promoting cleanliness and social responsibility through similar initiatives in the future. We continue to strive to provide our community with a clean and safe environment.
