Yuva Change Makers Vision to Prepare Future Leadership: Anurag
With a vision to harness the energy and ideas of young people for nation-building, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Member of Parliament from Hamirpur, today launched ‘Yuva ChangeMakers’ – a groundbreaking leadership fellowship for the youth of Himachal Pradesh. The program, inaugurated in Dharamshala on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, aims to cultivate a new generation of socially conscious, skilled, and solution-oriented leaders.
Speaking at the launch, Shri Thakur emphasized the critical role of youth in shaping India’s future. “India is the world’s youngest nation, and our strength lies in empowering this dynamic population. ‘Yuva ChangeMakers’ is more than a program; it’s a platform for Himachal’s youth to step forward, engage with their communities, and actively participate in building a developed India and a developed Himachal,” he said.
The fellowship is designed as a hands-on journey from thought to action. It will identify young talent and provide them with real-world experience, mentorship, and a structured path to leadership in public service, policy, and governance.
Here’s how the ‘Yuva ChangeMakers’ journey will unfold:
· Phase 1: The Call (Begins 25 Jan): Registration opens on Himachal Pradesh Foundation Day, with a goal to inspire 10,000 young individuals to apply.
· Phase 2: Finding the Pioneers: Applicants will be evaluated through their community experience, a personal vision statement, and an online test assessing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. District-level interviews will shortlist candidates for the next stage.
· Phase 3 & 4: Bootcamps for Growth: Shortlisted youth will attend intensive district and state-level bootcamps, honing their leadership abilities and understanding of grassroots issues.
· Phase 5: The Final Mission: The most promising candidates will present a Vision Paper for their district or Himachal in a live event. From these, a final group of 21 exceptional individuals will be selected as Fellows.
These 21 ‘Yuva ChangeMakers’ will embark on a transformative one-year fellowship. They will take an oath of dedicated service and work directly with Shri Thakur on constituency projects. As a mark of support and encouragement, each of the top 21 fellows will also receive an incentive grant of ₹1,21,000.
“True leadership is about influencing change with integrity and vision,” Shri Thakur noted, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ability to inspire the nation. “Through this initiative, we are investing in responsible, confident youth who will not just dream of a better tomorrow but will roll up their sleeves and build it. Our ‘Yuva ChangeMakers’ will be the architects of Himachal’s prosperous future.”
The program underscores a commitment to creating a tangible talent pipeline, ensuring that the passion of Himachal’s youth is channeled into meaningful community impact and lasting leadership.
