Yellow alert issued : Himachal braces for Snowfall and Rain as fresh western disturbance Sets In

Himachal Pradesh is gearing up for another round of snowfall and rain, with a fresh western disturbance becoming active from Monday midnight. The Meteorological Department has predicted precipitation on February 4 and 5, along with a yellow alert for cold days, thunderstorms, and lightning in some regions.

Snow and Rain Likely Across Various Regions

According to the forecast, mid and high-altitude areas may receive light to moderate snowfall and rain on February 4, while the plains could see light to moderate rainfall. The impact of this weather system will persist on February 5, bringing scattered precipitation across the state. However, the weather is expected to remain unpredictable between February 6 and 8, before another western disturbance becomes active on February 8, leading to fresh snowfall and rain in the following days.

Recent Weather Patterns and Temperature Updates

Over the past 24 hours, several parts of the state witnessed light rain and snowfall. High-altitude tribal areas were blanketed in snow, while Palampur and Chamba recorded 2 mm of rain each. Sundernagar saw 0.1 mm, and Shimla and Manali experienced drizzle. Meanwhile, Mandi remained covered in light fog.

On Sunday, most regions, including Shimla, enjoyed clear and sunny weather, resulting in a slight rise in maximum temperatures. Una recorded the highest temperature at 24.8°C, while Shimla stood at 16°C. The coldest spot in the state was Kukumseri at -9.9°C, followed by Tabo (-7.8°C), Keylong (-6°C), and Kalpa (-2.2°C). In contrast, minimum temperatures remained above zero in most areas, with Shimla and Bhuntar at 4°C, and Una at 5.3°C.
