BJP leaders made fun of government employees for asking for old pension and challenged them to contest elections. Whereas after the formation of the government in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, in the very first cabinet meeting, old pension was provided to about 1.5 lakh government employees of the state, so that in old age they are not forced to extend their hands to anyone and they can self-support. He said that during his tenure of just one and a quarter years, Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu provided pension of Rs 1500 per month to women, gave old pension to government employees and created more than 20 thousand employment opportunities in the government sector. Not only this, a start up fund of Rs 680 crore has been prepared to provide self-employment opportunities to the youth and five guarantees have been completed in just one and a quarter year. He said that the present state government has gone beyond the guarantees and written a new chapter of public welfare.
