Women of Peeran launched a campaign to stop illegal liquor trade

Under the government’s Nasha Nivaran Abhiyan, the team of Excise and Taxation Department conducted a surprise inspection of various shops and Dhabas in Peeran Panchayat, the last Panchayat of Mashobra Block, yesterday. This has been confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Excise and Taxation Himachal Pradeep Sharma. He said that the Mahila Mandals of Peeran Panchayat had received a complaint about illegal liquor in the village. On which the department took action and conducted a surprise inspection of all the shops and Dhabas under Peeran Panchayat, but illegally stocked liquor was not recovered from any shop.
It is worth noting that under the leadership of Panchayat Pradhan Kiran Sharma and Gram Sangathan Pradhan Bimla Verma, women have been raiding various places at night for the past one week to stop the illegal sale of liquor in the Panchayat. In which people were also made aware about the ill effects of drugs. She told that many youths in the Panchayat have become addicts of alcohol, which is also affecting other youths of the society, which is a matter of concern. Kiran Sharma told that women have resolved to make the Panchayat drug free, for which all efforts will be made.
Thereafter, Assistant State Tax and Excise Officer Theog Circle Rajesh Negi and Assistant Tax and Excise Officer (Excise) Shimla Kamal Chand held a meeting with the Mahila Mandal in Peeran Panchayat House. The officers of the department praised the steps taken by the women to prevent drug abuse and said that if any person illegally trades liquor in the Panchayat, information about it should be immediately given to the department. They also urged people not to consume liquor being sold illegally as there is a high possibility of adulteration in it which is harmful for health.
