Woman trekker hailing from Maharashtra dies at Manali

 A tragic incident occurred in the Hamta area near Manali, where a woman from Maharashtra died during a trekking expedition. 

The deceased, Shabnam Mohammad Aslam Ansari, was trekking with a group of 32 others organized by a trekking agency.

 She hailed from Bhageshree CHSL, Geeta Nagar Colony, Bhayander West, Thane, Maharashtra, and was the wife of Rakesh Ansari.

According to police reports, Shabnam’s health began to deteriorate during the trek. The guide and instructor accompanying the group promptly informed the trekking agency operator about her condition and the urgent need for medical assistance.

 They also contacted the 108 ambulance service for emergency help.

Despite their efforts, Shabnam’s condition worsened, necessitating an arduous 4 km journey on foot to the nearest road where she could be picked up by an ambulance. 

She was then transported to the Manali hospital. Unfortunately, upon arrival, doctors declared her dead.

The incident has prompted the police to register a case and initiate an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death. 

DSP KD Sharma confirmed the death and noted that the body would be handed over to her family following a post-mortem examination.

The untimely death of Shabnam has cast a pall over the adventurous trekking activities typically enjoyed by tourists in Manali. 

DSP  stated that the deceased’s body would be returned to her family after the autopsy.

This incident highlights the potential dangers associated with high-altitude trekking and underscores the importance of immediate medical attention in such remote areas. 

The trekking agency and local authorities are expected to review their emergency response protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
