With installation of 61 distillation units Himachal to become number one in production of wild marigold essential oil

Essential Oil Association of India (EOAI) is organizing a one-day workshop on “Himalayan Rosa Damascena – Development of Aroma Farming and Industry
of Western Himalayan Region” at CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur on April 21, 2023, in association with CSIR-
IHBT, Himalayan Phytochemicals and Growers Association (HIMPA), Mandi and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. EOAI is a prominent
organization that was created in 1956 and comprised of scientists, researchers, industrialists, merchants, manufacturers, exporters, importers, and farmers in the
field of essential oils. This event will provide an excellent opportunity for interaction between the relevant industries, scientists, and more importantly farmers to boost the essential oil industry in India. Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-IHBT informed that the institute under CSIR Aroma Mission has provided end-to-end technology for the cultivation and processing of aromatic crops such as damask rose, wild marigold, chamomile, Indian valerian, lavender, rosemary, lemongrass, and palmarosa. With the installation of more than 61 distillation units, the institute endowed Himachal Pradesh to become the number one state in the production of wild marigold essential oil benefiting over 3000 farmer families. He said that CSIR-IHBT has been entrusted with discovering, innovating, and developing sustainable technologies that benefit society, industry, and the environment, as well as strengthening the bio economy. Dr. Rakesh Rana, Sr. Principal Scientist, CSIR-IHBT, who is coordinating the program, stated that more than 150 people from across India will participate in the
workshop.
