We Will Rebuild: Jayaram’s Emotional Visit to Disaster-Hit Seraj

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jayaram Thakur, was visibly moved as he walked through the devastated landscapes of Seraj Assembly constituency. The destruction caused by the recent disaster has left fertile lands barren, homes shattered, and roads impassable—especially in villages like Manjhigaad, Bilagaad, Bhalati, and Thensar.

During his visit to the worst-hit areas of Chhatri, Thakur met with affected families, listened to their stories, and shared in their pain. “The tragedy of June 30 has pushed us back by 30 years,” he said, recalling how he had to cross temporary wooden bridges—just like he did decades ago—to reach the region. “We spent three decades building this place, and now we’re back to square one. But we won’t give up.”

Despite the overwhelming loss, Thakur’s message was one of resilience. “We are alive, and that means we can rebuild everything,” he said, distributing relief materials and assuring continued support. He emphasized the urgency of restoring roads, especially with the apple harvest ready and farmers unable to transport their produce to markets. “If the roads remain closed, the farmers will suffer even more.”

Appealing to both the government and private donors, Thakur called for machinery and resources to help reopen routes. “We’ll manage the fuel and logistics ourselves—just help us get the roads cleared,” he urged.

His visit wasn’t just a political gesture—it was a heartfelt reminder that even in the face of immense loss, the spirit to rebuild and recover remains strong.
