Virbhadra Singh Foundation provides relief assistance to disaster affected people of Mandi
Virbhadra Singh Foundation President and Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh today shared details of the relief and rehabilitation work being carried out for the families affected by the disaster in Mandi district. He said that the government, NGOs and social workers are making coordinated efforts to help the affected people.
The Foundation presented a sum of Rs. 11 lakh to the Deputy Commissioner of Mandi district, which will be used to provide immediate relief to the families affected by the disaster. This amount is especially for those families who have lost their homes, farms or means of livelihood.
Vikramaditya Singh said that the Foundation has sought details of children who have lost their parents in the disaster from the Deputy Commissioner Mandi. Once the information is received, the entire cost of education of these orphaned children will be borne by the Raja Virbhadra Singh Foundation so that those children can be made self-reliant in the future.
Vikramaditya Singh recalled the vision of his father and former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Virbhadra Singh whose aim was to uplift the underprivileged sections of the society, He said that Raja Virbhadra Singh Foundation is working on this mission. Our effort is to provide not only immediate relief to the people affected by the disaster but also provide them long-term assistance.
Shri Vikramaditya Singh appreciated the cooperation of government agencies, NGOs and local people in disaster management. He said that rehabilitation work is going on at a fast pace to compensate for the losses caused by floods and landslides in Mandi district. This initiative taken by the Foundation has given a new hope to the affected people.
