Vinay Kumar was elected Deputy Speaker unanimously of the Himachal Legislative

Vinay Kumar of Renukaji (reserved) Vidhansabha was elected unanimously as Deputy Speaker of the Himachal Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

After the lunch break, three proposals of Harshvardhan Chauhan, Chander Kumar, and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur were moved to elect Vinay Kumar as deputy speaker of HP Legislative Assembly.

The proposal was also seconded by Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, Dr Dhani Ram Shandil, and Hans Raj in the house. 

Later Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition, and Parliamentary Affairs Ministers and Deputy Chief Minister also took the Deputy Speaker to his dias in the house.

Addressing the assembly after his election as the deputy speaker Mr Kumar said that it is a great privilege to him and his assembly constituents to be elevated to this post on the dias of Deputy Speaker of August House.

He said that Renkuji was the renained bastion of the Congress party as before the election of Mr Kumar was three times MLA from Renukaji the erstwhile assembly of first chief minister Dr. YS Parmar remained the MLS and his father was elected six times from Renukaji.

Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, leader of the opposition Jai Ram Thakur, and deputy speaker greeted Mr Kumar for election him in the house.

This post has been lying vacant for the last one year. Mr. Sukhu said that the party’s high command also supported Mr. Kumar in his choice of Deputy speaker.

 He is the son of the Late Dr. Prem Singh (Former Chief Parliamentary Secretary of H.P. Govt.).  born on 12th March 1978 at Maina Bagh, Distt. Sirmour, 10+2; married to Smt. Seema Bhushan; one son & one daughter; Agriculturist.

General Secretary, Block Congress Committee, Renuka; Non-official Director, H.P. Agricultural Rural Development Bank Ltd. and working President, HPCC June 2022 onwards.

Elected to the State Legislative Assembly in December 2012; and re-elected in December 2017; Chief Parliamentary Secretary 25th December 2012 – 20th December 2017; Chairman, Renuka Development Board, 2013-17; Member, Welfare, Library, Research & Reference and Human Development Committees, 2018-2022.

Elected for the third consecutive term in December, 2022; nominated as Chairman, Public Administration Committee; Member, of Estimates Committee.
