Vinay Kumar Accuses JP Nadda of Misleading Himachal, Demands Release of Promised Relief Funds
State Congress President Vinay Kumar has termed the statements made by BJP National President and Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda during his visit to Shimla as devoid of facts and completely misleading. He said that Nadda should clarify, with figures, how much money the central government has given to Himachal Pradesh under which scheme and from which item.
Vinay Kumar said that the bundle of lies Nadda told in Shimla is so vast that anyone would hang their head in shame. The truth is that the central government has not sent a single rupee to Himachal Pradesh in the name of the disaster. Three months ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a disaster relief amount of ₹1,500 crore, but the state government has not received that amount to date. It takes approximately 96 hours to reach Shimla on foot from Delhi, yet more than 90 days have passed since the BJP made this announcement, and the state is still being kept waiting.
The state Congress president said that the state previously had a so-called “double-engine government,” but even then the BJP’s claims proved completely hollow. This is why the state’s economy was completely devastated during BJP rule. Therefore, Nadda’s claims today are mere empty promises.
Vinay Kumar said that although Jagat Prakash Nadda has reached the Rajya Sabha from another state this time, his place of work has always been Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, he should understand the suffering of the people of disaster-stricken Himachal Pradesh and immediately release the ₹1,500 crore announced by the Prime Minister.
Reacting to Nadda’s visit to Shimla, Vinay Kumar said that his visit was purely political. As a Union Minister, he offered neither concrete assurances nor any real assistance to the state. He alleged that the BJP government at the Centre is treating Himachal Pradesh step-motherly and turning a blind eye to the state. In the last three years, the Central Government has provided no special assistance to the state, while the BJP MP elected from the state has been unsuccessfully attempting to mislead the public by presenting false statistics. Jagat Prakash Nadda is not only a Union Minister but also the National President of the BJP, yet the state still awaits his assistance.
Vinay Kumar said that the state’s financial situation was severely eroded by the previous BJP government. The central government also suppressed the pension contributions of state employees. Now, funds received under central schemes have been cut, and unreasonable restrictions have been imposed on loan limits.
He said that the BJP only practices politics of announcements and rhetoric, while the Congress Party and the state government stand firmly with the people in this hour of crisis. The people of the state now seek relief not through empty promises, but through real assistance.
The state Congress president bluntly said that it has become a habit of the BJP to do politics during times of disaster, but the Congress party will continue to fight from the streets to the Parliament for every penny of Himachal’s rights from the Centre and will continue to expose the anti-people policies of the BJP before the public.
Vinay Kumar said that Nadda is well aware of the state’s geographical conditions. If he has even a little love and affection for the state and its people, he should step forward and ensure real help for Himachal Pradesh.
