Veterans India Confers Pride of Nation Award on Nauni varsity
In a significant achievement furthering the spirit of the national slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan,’ Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, has been honoured with the Veterans India Pride of Nation Award 2025.
The university was selected for the honour by a five-member jury headed by a former Chief Justice of a High Court, along with eminent members from diverse fields. Shri Sanjay Seth, Hon’ble Minister of State (MoS) for Defence, was the Chief Guest at the event. The award recognises impactful initiatives that promote patriotism, leadership, community service, youth empowerment and value-based education. Dr Inder Dev, Director of Extension Education, received the award on behalf of the university at the awards function in New Delhi.
University Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel expressed gratitude to the jury and Veterans India for acknowledging the university’s efforts in honouring the nation’s veterans and fostering a strong connection with the defence community. He highlighted that the university regularly organises motivational talks and events to honour defence personnel and inspire students. The university is also engaging its alumni who have served in the armed forces to motivate students to consider careers in the defence services.
The event was attended by national functionaries of Veterans India and several eminent dignitaries, including Prof Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC); Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE; Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, President, Association of Indian Universities (AIU); Dr MR Jayaram, Chairman, EPSI; P. N. Raveendran, former Chief Justice of Kerala High Court and Lt Gen G. D. Bakshi, SM, VSM (Retd.), among others.
