Valedictory Ceremony of Hindi Fortnight 2025 held at the IIAS

Shimla, September 30, 2025. The Valedictory Ceremony of Hindi Fortnight 2025 was organized this evening at the Pool Theatre of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Rashtrapati Nivas, Shimla. The ceremony was presided over by the Director of the Institute, Professor Himanshu Kumar Chaturvedi, while Professor Om Prakash Sharma, Tagore Fellow of the Institute, graced the occasion as the Special Guest.

The programme commenced with welcome and moderation, followed by an address by Professor Om Prakash Sharma. He described Hindi language and literature as the soul of Indian culture, emphasizing that Hindi is not merely a medium of communication but also a powerful thread of national unity and cultural consciousness.

On this occasion, the Director, Professor Himanshu Kumar Chaturvedi, in his presidential address, highlighted the importance of Hindi Fortnight organized at the Institute. He stated that the appropriate use of Hindi should be continuously enhanced in administrative, academic, and research-related work. Professor Chaturvedi expressed his resolve to promote the wider use of Hindi at both administrative and academic levels and inspired all staff members and scholars to contribute in this direction.

Certificates were distributed to the winners of competitions held during the fortnight, which included Essay Writing, Debate, Hindi Typing, Self-composed Poetry Recitation, Translation, Noting/Drafting, and Quiz Competitions. In addition to these, ten employees who carried out original noting and drafting in Hindi in official and government work during the year were also felicitated.

The main winners included Ms. Ashwini Rao, Mrs. Chandrakala, Mr. Kesar Singh, Mrs. Promila, Mr. Devendra Singh, Mr. Naveen Harnot, Mr. Suraj Prakash, Mr. Devraj Sharma, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Mrs. Gurjeet Kaur, Mrs. Ranjana, Mrs. Bandna Kumari, Mr. Hemraj Sharma, Mr. Kulpurushan Sharma, Mr. Gopal Singh, Mrs. Rajni, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Mr. Surendra Ramola, Mr. Pritam Singh, Mr. Ashok Bhatoiya, Mr. Om Prasad, Mrs. Neeraj Sharma, Mr. Daya Ram, Mrs. Sharda Devi, and Mr. Aman Verma, among others.

At the conclusion of the programme, the Vote of Thanks was presented by Mr. Meharchand Negi, Secretary of the Institute. The programme was conducted by Akhilesh Pathak, Secretary (Rajbhasha) & Public Relations Officer.
