Two missing after drowning incident in BBMB canal
A tragic incident involving a girl and a man occurred in the BBMB canal near Baggi, under the jurisdiction of Dhanotu police station in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh on Friday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Bhushan stated that the incident took place on Friday afternoon at the BBMB canal near Baggi, under Dhanotu police station in Mandi district.
The police are exploring all aspects of the incident, including whether the girl fell accidentally or intentionally jumped into the canal.
It was informed that a man entered the canal to rescue the girl, but both were overwhelmed by the strong current and swept away.
The victims are a girl from Shakroha village and a man, identified as the father of a young man from Bora village in Nalsar Panchayat.
The sequence of events began when the girl fell into the canal, the circumstances of which are currently under investigation. It remains unclear whether she slipped or jumped in.
Upon receiving information about the girl’s situation, the man immediately attempted to rescue her. Despite his efforts, the strong current of the canal swept away both the girl and the man.
Local residents attempted to save them but were unsuccessful due to the strong current. DSP Sundarnagar Bharat Bhushan and the Dhanotu police team reached the site promptly to initiate an investigation.
Searches were conducted along the canal banks, but no clues were found. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has been called in to assist in the search and recovery operations.
