Two Lifelong Advocates Step into Judicial Legacy: Himachal High Court Welcomes Justices Jiya Lal Bhardwaj and Romesh Verma
In a momentous stride for Himachal Pradesh’s legal landscape, two seasoned lawyers—Jiya Lal Bhardwaj and Romesh Verma—were formally sworn in as Judges of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. The oath ceremony, held in the historic halls of the High Court in Shimla, was led by Chief Justice G. S. Sandhawalia and witnessed by a gathering of legal luminaries, proud families, and fellow jurists.
Justice Bhardwaj, whose journey began in 1994 under the mentorship of Arun Kumar Goel (himself a future High Court Judge), has spent over three decades immersed in the intricacies of law. His elevation is not just a personal milestone but a testament to his enduring commitment to justice and legal excellence.
Justice Verma, following in the footsteps of his father, Senior Advocate Ghanshyam Dass Verma, launched his career in 1999. Known for his sharp legal mind and compassionate approach, he brings a wealth of experience that promises to enhance the court’s ability to serve the people of Himachal Pradesh.
The ceremony was more than a formal event—it was a celebration of dedication, legacy, and the promise of fair justice. Attendees included Justice Deepak Gupta, former Supreme Court Judge, retired High Court judges, and key figures from the state’s legal fraternity.
With these appointments, the High Court not only gains two accomplished jurists but also renews its pledge to uphold justice with integrity and efficiency.
