Tragic Landslide Near Manikaran Gurudwara Claims Six Lives, Three Injured

A devastating landslide, accompanied by a tree fall, struck the PWD road opposite Gurdwara Manikaran Sahib in Kullu district, resulting in the loss of six lives and leaving three others injured.

According to officials from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kullu’s office, the deceased have been identified as Ramesh (42) from Vijay Nagar, Bangalore; Pallavi; Bhargav; Reena, daughter of Hanch Ray from VPO Mkm; Varshini, daughter of Ramesh; and Sameer Aurang, a Nepali national. Additionally, two unidentified individuals, a Punjabi man and a woman, are among the victims. The injured have been rushed to Jari Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Rescue operations are in full swing, with a police team led by SHO Manikaran managing the relief efforts. The field revenue agency is also present, aiding in emergency measures. The Fire Brigade from Jari is en route, while a medical team under BMO Jari has already reached the site to provide immediate assistance.

SDM Kullu, Vikas Shukla, is personally overseeing the operations, ensuring a swift response. Hearse vans have been dispatched to transport the deceased, while authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.

Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He assured that the state government stands with the affected individuals and has directed the district administration to provide all necessary aid. The Chief Minister has also emphasized the need for the best possible medical care for the injured and prayed for their speedy recovery.

As the rescue and relief efforts continue, authorities are urging people in the region to remain cautious, especially given the ongoing risk of landslides in the area.
