In a heartbreaking incident, a 16-year-old girl reportedly ended her life by jumping from Victoria Bridge in Mandi into the Beas River late Sunday night. The shocking event has left the community in deep sorrow.
Police Investigation Underway
While the exact reason behind this tragic step is still under investigation, a video circulating on social media suggests that the girl’s father had reportedly scolded her for using her mobile phone during the late hours of the night. Search and Recovery Efforts
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mandi, Sakshi Verma, shared details about the incident, stating, “Information was received at the city police post regarding the jumping of a 16-year-old girl into the Beas River from Victoria Bridge at around 3 am on Sunday night. Immediately, the police launched a search operation.”
After relentless efforts, the girl’s body was recovered about 400 meters downstream from Victoria Bridge by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel around 3:15 pm on Monday.
