Tragedy Strikes Una: Local Driver Killed in Abu Dhabi Drone Attack

The quiet village of Sanoli Majara in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district has been plunged into grief after news broke that 52-year-old Shammi, a longtime driver working in the UAE, was killed in a drone strike in Abu Dhabi.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning around 5 am, when Shammi had parked his vehicle in a restricted zone and was speaking on his phone. In that moment, a drone—reportedly launched from Iran—hit the premises with devastating force. The explosion was so intense that it claimed his life instantly.

Authorities in Abu Dhabi quickly sealed off the area and took custody of the body. Back home, Una’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhishek Mittal confirmed the tragedy and assured that the administration is coordinating with Shammi’s family to complete necessary formalities.

For the people of Sanoli Majara, the loss is immeasurable. Shammi was not only the sole breadwinner of his family but also a familiar face who returned home periodically to spend time with loved ones. His death, the first reported fatality from Una in the ongoing Gulf conflict, has left the community mourning deeply.
