Trade unions submitted a 15-point memorandum of demands to the Chairman of the Labor Welfare Board

State level officials of all labour organisations of Himachal Pradesh, CITU, INTUC, BMS, AITUC and TUCC met the newly appointed Chairman of Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Nardev Singh Kanwar and Secretary Rajiv Kumar at Shimla Board Office and apprised them of the problems faced by the workers. After two and a half hours of discussion, consensus was reached on most of the demands. These will be implemented within a week and some issues remain which will be implemented after being passed in the board meeting to be held in the first week of August. All the labour organisations demanded from the Chairman of the Board to restore the registration, renewal and financial assistance of the workers which was pending for a long time. MNREGA workers have been considered eligible to remain members of the board and get financial assistance, but their pending benefits of three years are still not being released and neither is their registration and renewal being done. Apart from this, the labourers were asked to share the OTP number for online registration or to appear in the office in person. This is being done which is against the directive of the Supreme Court whereas the labourer is authorised to send his registration and other documents through his representative or labour union. The unions also demanded that due to a wrong decision of the board, many labourers are facing problems. The renewal of workers has not been done for the last two years, hence they should be given an additional year for this. Demand was raised to release all pending benefits in the next three months and to give three months time to workers who have not applied. Went. On the demand of the unions, it was decided to hold a meeting of the board on 3rd August and a joint meeting of the unions with the labour welfare officers the next day so that it could help in coordination at all levels. It was agreed in the meeting that the Gram Panchayats And construction workers working under various schemes in municipal bodies can be made members of the board.
