Tourists are enjoying the Kufri Valley drenched in Buran flowers

Mudaghat, Chhalanda, Koti, and Kufri valleys of the Junga region are drenched with Buran’s flowers these days. Which is being thoroughly enjoyed by the tourists coming to this area. Let us tell you that its scientific name is Rhododendron. Red and pink flowers bloom on its trees in March and April. This plant grows in cold places where the temperature is 120 degrees Celsius and in sloping places. It does not require much water. Burans is a tree found at medium altitudes of 1500 to 3600 meters above sea level. The leaves of this tree are thick in appearance and the flowers are bell-like. This tree grows automatically in the forests and there is no need to take care of it. Please note that this flower is found in abundance in Himachal. In Shimla, Kangra, Solan, Dharamshala, and Kinnaur, this flower is used in the form of pickle, jam, and juice. People from rural areas also bring Buran’s flowers to sell in the market and people eagerly buy this flower for medicinal purposes. In the present context, Buran flowers have also become a source of income for the people.
Ayurveda physician Dr. Vishwabandhu Joshi says that Buran’s flowers are full of medicinal properties that are used in various medicines. Vitamin A, B-1, B-2, C, E, and K are found in abundance in Burans, which prevents weight gain and keeps cholesterol under control. Not only this, Burans reduces the risk of sudden heart attack. It is said that the sherbet of Buran flowers cools the mind and being a good antioxidant, it protects from skin diseases. Chutney of Buran’s flowers is very tasty which is a sure-shot remedy to avoid heat stroke and nosebleeds.
Pritam Thakur, a senior citizen of the area, Vishwanand Thakur of Balog Panchayat said that on the occasion of Vaishakh, it is considered auspicious to make a garland of Buran’s flowers and then first place it in the temple of one’s family deity and then in one’s home. Some people dry the Buran’s petals and use them in chutney and other food items.
