Three police jawans were killed in a road accident in Una of Himachal Pradesh

Three Jawans of Himachal Pradesh police were killed in a motorcycle collision with a speeding truck at Ashapuri near Gagret town of Una district in Himachal Pradesh late on Wednesday night. Una Superintendent of Police Arijit Sen Thakur said the three jawans belonged to the 4th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) at Jangleberi in Hamirpur district and were posted on duty at the Ashapuri inter-state barrier. He said that while two jawans died on the spot, the third died on the way to the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Manoj Kumar, Shubham, and Vishal. The deceased were riding a motorbike on way to their duty when the accident occurred. Hearing the loud voice, the staff of the police post reached the spot and took the bodies in their custody and also took the third person to the nearby hospital for treatment where he too succumbed to his injuries. The policemen were in civil dress and were identified by the ID cards found in their custody. Police sources said that a truck driver has been detained in Nadaun of Hamirpur. A case has been registered against him for speeding and negligent driving. The truck was carrying bricks from Gagret side to Nadaun of Hamirpur, the police spokesman added.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the death of three police personnel in an unfortunate road accident at Gagret in Una district today. While expressing his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families’ members, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to give peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.
