There will be regular free checkups on the health of the cleaning staff
Medical camps will be held twice a year for the health checkup of cleaning staff and workers, with steps taken to provide free treatment facilities. Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, speaking at the inauguration of the Rain Basera in Dharmshala, emphasized that cleaning workers are integral to society and have played a crucial role in the success of cleanliness campaigns. He highlighted their commendable services during COVID-19 and urged municipal bodies to provide necessary facilities for cleaning staff.
Deputy Commissioner Bairwa announced that cleaning workers will benefit from various government public welfare schemes to enhance their social and economic status. He also mentioned that steps will be taken to address the problems of cleaning staff and their dependents, and training will be provided in various sectors for self-employment.
He instructed municipal officials to prepare plans for residential facilities for cleaning staff and ensure they receive medical checkups at least once every six months. ID cards, including blood group and PF numbers, should be created for all cleaning staff, and they should be provided with uniforms and raincoats as per the weather.
Deputy Commissioner Bairwa also stressed the importance of better educational arrangements for the children of cleaning staff to ensure a bright future for them.
During the event, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Zafar Iqbal detailed the facilities being provided to the cleaning staff and assured that steps would be taken to quickly address their issues. Mayor of Dharmshala Municipal Corporation Neenu Sharma also listened to the concerns of the cleaning staff and instructed officers to resolve them on the spot.
The event was attended by Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Dr. Anjali Garg, BMO Vikram Katoch, and representatives from the West Warriors organization.
