What is the spiritual meaning of Dhanteras?
According to Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Director and Gynaecologist of Asha Ayurveda, Dhanteras literally means wealth and teras. It is the thirteenth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. In Hinduism, it is believed that Lord Dhanvantari appeared on the day of Dhanteras. In one hand was a pot of water, in the other an earthen pot. This day is also a symbol of health, wellness and longevity.
What is the relationship between money and health?
Nowadays there is so much stress and rush in the life of people that they are not able to take out time for their health and end up suffering from many diseases. In Ayurveda, it is said that your health is the most precious wealth and your body is the basis of all dharma karma. On the day of Dhanteras, Lord Dhanvantari wishes good health for you. When both your body and mind are healthy, only then money has any value, so give priority to your health. In traditional ways, people used copper utensils for good health and by buying such utensils on the day of Dhanteras, we bring health and prosperity to our home.
Children’s happiness – the greatest happiness of life
On the day of Dhanteras, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari are worshipped for not only material wealth but also human wealth. A worthy child is the basis of the prosperity you seek from God. According to Ayurveda, this day is celebrated as a symbol of balanced lifestyle and prosperity, because on this day Lord Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurveda, was born.
Dr Chanchal Sharma says that the festival of Dhanteras is very important not only for getting wealth but also for good health, prosperity, and procreation. Nowadays, most of the problems occur due to your sedentary lifestyle and stress, so this time on the occasion of Dhanteras, take a pledge to balance your mind, brain and body.
