State Congress President and MP Pratibha Singh has said that the interests of the people affected by the Sunni Dam project will not be allowed to be tampered with. She said that their demands will be placed before the company as well as the state government. She said that injustice will not be allowed to anyone affected by the dam.
While presiding over the meeting of District Shimla and Mandi Public Consciousness Awareness Joint Struggle Committee of Sunni Hydroelectric Project at Rajiv Bhawan today, Pratibha Singh said that another meeting will be held soon with the struggle committee and the demands and proposals passed in it will be forwarded to the state government. Will be placed before. She said that apart from this she will also visit this area soon.
In the meeting, the Sangharsh Committee accused the company of arbitrariness and said that the rules of land acquisition were being completely ignored in this project. She said that the price of land is being given at Muhal’s rate which is not acceptable to him at all. She said that about 2700 families are being affected by this project, hence they should get proper compensation for their land at the market rate along with permanent employment in this project. They demanded that compensation for the acquisition of their land should be determined under the provision of Factor 2. People who are becoming completely homeless should be given a bigger house along with land and not a 2-room house.
In the meeting, she demanded to involve Lada in the development of the area and said that there is no clarity in this project. There is neither any mention of opening schools or hospitals in the area nor any mention of construction of road bridges in the affected panchayats.
In the meeting, the Sangharsh Committee also expressed anger over the appointment of retired land acquisition officers for the construction of the project and demanded the appointment of permanent revenue officers in place of these officers. He demanded immediate termination of the services of these officers or their removal from their posts. The committee alleged that these officials are ignoring the problems of the affected families under the pressure of the company.
