The Hindi Pakhwada closing ceremony was organized at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study

The closing ceremony of Hindi Fortnight was organized at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (Advanced Study) on Friday under the chairmanship of Mehar Chand Negi, Secretary of the Institute. Hindi Fortnight has been celebrated from 14th September to 29th September. Before that, as per the orders of the Government of India, Hindi Day and Third Hindi Day were organized in Pune (Maharashtra) on 14-15th September 2023 under the chairmanship of Honorable Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah. Participation in the All India Official Language Conference was ensured.

The function started with the welcome address of the Secretary of Official Language, Smt. Vijay Lakshmi Bhardwaj. After that, the winner and scholar Professor Yashwant, who stood first in the poetry recitation competition, recited his poem. In this sequence, co-scholar Dr. Trisha Pal presented a patriotic song. The main attraction of this function was the presentation of the drama of Dharamvir Bharti’s play ‘Andha Yug’ under the direction of renowned theater artist and Tagore scholar of the institute, Professor Mahesh Champaklal, whose role was presented by Professor Alok Kumar Gupta, a fellow of the institute. In the drama, the characters of Gandhari were performed by Dr. Vandana Sharma, Krishna was performed by Dr. Rajesh Kumar Abhay and Ashwatthama was performed by Ashwini Sharma.

On this occasion, National Fellows of the Institute, Professor Harpal Singh, and Professor Anand Kumar also expressed their views on the current condition and direction of Hindi in the country.

In his presidential address, the Secretary of the Institute, Mehar Chandra Negi, announced the names of the winners of the Hindi competitions and while congratulating them, said that the work of the official language Hindi has increased in the Institute and efforts are being made that the Government of India (Ministry of Home Affairs) Every effort is made to achieve the goals set by it. On this occasion, the Secretary of the Institute appealed to all the officers and employees present at the function to conduct as much government work as possible in Hindi. The members present were thanked by Premchand, the librarian of the institute.
