The Bishu fair began in Dibber with the arrival of the Thoda groups
The two-day Bishu fair started on Saturday at Dibber in Rasumandar. Two Thoda groups, Kalavaniya and Janahan, reached the fair ground dancing to the warlike tunes of traditional instruments. On reaching the fair ground, the Thoda groups symbolically performed a spectacular Thoda game. This fair is being organised by Pashi Thoda group Banolta Bandhu Dibber. People from far-flung areas arrived in large numbers in traditional attire to see the Bishu fair.
Retired CHT Prempal Arya attended the fair as the chief guest. On this occasion, children from Grand Sold Phagli and women from self-help groups performed the Pahari Mala dance, thoroughly entertaining the fair attendees.
Fair committee secretary Geeta Ram Banolta welcomed the chief guest and honoured him by presenting him with a memento and a Himachali cap. He said that the Thoda game will be the centre of attraction for the people in the fair. In which players wear the special Thoda dress, Salare and leather shoes and shoot arrows at each other. This game is played between two players in which the players themselves decide the victory or defeat. He said that on the closing ceremony of the fair on Sunday, Pachhad MLA Reena Kashyap has been invited as the chief guest.
A large number of youth from the area including Banolta Bandhu Pradhan Ravindra, Vice Pradhan Sunil, Secretary Geeta Ram, Deputy Secretary Rajesh, Treasurer Rakesh, Deputy Treasurer Lal Singh, Advisor Kirpuram and other members Pradeep, Sunil and Randeep were present in the fair committee.
