TB Champion will spread awareness about TB treatment in society : Dr Ranta
A special TB Champion training program was organized in Mashobra block on Thursday under the Impact India Project. This program was organized under the joint aegis of World Health Partners and National Tuberculosis Elimination Program.
While presiding over the programme, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Yashpal Ranta said that TB champions are messengers of change in the society. When the community sees that a person is completely cured from this disease and is living a normal life, people’s confidence increases further.
He said that this training program organized in Mashobra block not only provides TB survivors with confidence and leadership role in the society but it is also an important step towards making TB free village panchayat and district.
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Vineet Lakhanpal said that not only the health department but also the community’s participation is very important for TB elimination. Such trainings play an important role in creating a TB-free society.
Senior Treatment Supervisor Anmol Raj Koondel gave detailed information on the symptoms of tuberculosis, the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment. He also motivated the patients who have completely recovered from TB to play the role of TB champions in the society.
He said that those patients who have successfully completed their treatment were invited to this training. The aim of the training is to empower them so that they can share their experiences with the community. This will spread awareness among people about the symptoms and treatment of TB, help reduce discrimination and assure the society that TB is treatable and can be completely cured with timely treatment.
State Lead Dr. Aparna and District Lead Vikramjeet from World Health Partner also played an active role in this training program. Addressing the community, he said that TB Champions will not only spread awareness but will also motivate people to get tested, treated and take medicines on time.
